Federal and State subsidy programs such as Medicaid, Social Security, and OPWDD contracts represent the majority of the annual revenue however the growth and sustainability of programs are possible through Philanthropy. In the past year Philanthropy has helped to advance the mission of Maryhaven in many ways. Philanthropic impacts include, but are not limited to extensive renovations to 39 properties and residences improving the quality of life for our program participants, program and staff reinvestment, technology improvements, and expansion of day and recreational programs.

Kinexion delivers administrative operations and offers financial security as a collective 350-million-dollar organization, employing 3,700 staff members and providing services to approximately 6,500 individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Long Island. Affiliated partners are expertly positioned for continued growth supported by direct savings; freeing up valuable resources for person-centered services.

Enhancing the well-being of people with disabilities, their families, and our community.

The need:

As we support a growing and aging population, we must be nimble, attentive, and innovative to ensure we have the most state-of-the-art and welcoming facilities, groundbreaking programs, and staffing resources to support people living with disabilities and their families.
We know that people living with disabilities are vastly underrepresented in the workforce, but if given an opportunity through a supportive and vocational work program, can provide a significant contribution to the U.S. labor force. By investing in training programs and work placements, we can offer the people we support opportunities to live even more fulfilling, enriching, and active lives by becoming contributing members of society and earning a paycheck.

Our Plan

1. Workforce Development investment to support employee wellness, leadership, and retention
GOAL: $100,000
Maryhaven’s commitment to our staff empowers each person to grow and learn, building the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver exceptional services to each individual we support. As we continue our 95 years supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we remain focused on ensuring we provide support for employee wellness while we attract and retain a workforce dedicated to furtherance of our mission. In 2025, we seek to offer employees enhanced leadership training, wellness and nutrition support, and opportunities for career growth.

2. Establish a Construction and Maintenance Fund
GOAL: $500,000
Relying solely on state funding to maintain our homes is risky, as funding is unpredictable and many times insufficient to preserve the value and functionality of our assets. On average, Maryhaven receives only $1,000 per bed, per year for maintenance. A dedicated maintenance fund ensures that necessary resources are available to maintain buildings and infrastructure consistently over time, which allows for routine preventive maintenance and proper long-term planning for replacements.

3. Program Enhancements for Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities
GOAL: $100,000
Enhanced creative programs lead to better outcomes and innovations that enrich support for people with disabilities. Supportive work opportunities lead to even more fulfilling, enriching, and active lives all while earning a paycheck.

Fulfilling Our Vision
