Maryhaven recently celebrated the life of Howard “Howie” Navarro, who passed away in 2020, by dedicating outdoor space and creating a backyard sanctuary at one of our community residential homes.

Family, friends, staff and residents spent a sunny afternoon together in the backyard with lunch, music, and stories remembering Howie fondly.

In addition to trees, shrubs and bushes being cleared for people to enjoy the space, a gazebo was constructed with a bronze plaque etched with Howie's photo. Flowers were planted, and comfortable seating was installed for all to enjoy. The space is now affectionately being referred to as Howie's Place.
